Star Trek: The Next Generation was part of my initial pinball machine purchase on March 3, 2001 with 3 other machines. It is my favorite game due to the open playfield, very challenging, and excellent theme integration. It doesn't hurt that I'm a big fan of the series either.
The pictures below show domed flashers on the gun launchers. These were part of the original prototype/sample games but the production games had a flat piece of red transparent plastic instead. My game, unfortunately, is not a prototype; I did the modifications myself. The $2 upgrade really made a difference in the look I think and I highly recommend it to other owners.
