Funhouse was purchased March 19, 2003 and is in very nice overall condition. The pictures below were taken shortly after the purchase and just after I moved it into the house. The cabinet is in near-perfect condition, but the playfield is quite dirty with a wear spot in front of the scoop kickout, and will need a thorough shopping. Updated pictures will be added after I have completed the necessary work.
This particular Funhouse is a "sample" (pre-production) version of the game, the most desirable feature of which is a Diamondplate playfield. It is estimated there were about 100 or so of the sample games produced. The serial number on mine is 50003-570106. Here's a brief listing of the known differences between a sample and production version (thanks to The Korn for the compilation):
Diamondplate playfield.
Non-WPC soundboard. It is a System 11 board with an attached interface board.
Cabinet artwork is screened onto vinyl "decal" instead of directly to the wood.
Cabinet stainless steel side rails extend below the flipper buttons, production games have the smaller side rails.
The game start button protrudes from the cabinet, production game buttons are recessed into the cabinet.
Luckily my game had all the manuals and documentation still with it. A couple of the documents make reference to it being a sample game along with the differences and some potential problems as a result, as well as information on the different soundboard with schematic. I've scanned these documents, view them using the links below:
