Embryon was purchased in a local sale on April 14, 2002. Here's the story according to it's original owner: He purchased the machine from a local arcade in 1982 when it was 1 year old. The machine has been in his living room ever since. (His answer to my "where has it been the last 20 years" was "right where you see it"!) The machine was played occasionally for the first 10 years, and for the last 10 has sat pretty much unused. After discovering the MPU batteries had leaked and damaged the components he started to repair the problem but instead decided to sell it. He even had an invoice from a local Bally service center where a bridge rectifier on the power supply board was replaced in December 1983.
Based on the machine's like-new condition his story appears to check out. It is extremely clean inside and out with only a few minor cosmetic issues. The playfield is mylared only at the kicker slings and pop bumpers. There is some very minor wear around a couple inserts. Only 2250 Embryon's were made in 1981 and is a widebody pin. The serial number sequence on this one is 1650.
The pictures you see below were taken at my storage facility almost immediately after the purchase. I have not done any cleaning or maintenance yet.
Special thanks to CPT Chris Thompson (again) for his guidance in pointing out the great features and true collectability of this overlooked and scarce classic. Click here to see his super nice Embryon and some good information too.
