Where to begin... This ended up being way more of a project than I ever expected! Initially I purchased a nice Creature from my bud Grover on October 1, 2004. About 6 months before that I had found a complete Creature locally but the cabinet was complete garbage (missing the bottom, side rails ripped off, etc). Right around that time I got the idea to take the playfield from my "good" Creature and put it into a restored cabinet, then take the playfield from the trashed cabinet game and put it into the cabinet from my "good" game rather than part it out. (That game has since gone a very good home.) The main reason for all this was that the playfield from the "good" game was the hot pink version where the pink color, most noticeable on the Cadillac between the flippers, as well as other colors, are more vibrant than some of the other runs.
Being cheap I decided to try and find a cabinet worthy of restoring rather than buy a new one from Big Time cabinets. Unfortunately empty Creature cabinets are near impossible to find so I had to come up with an alternative. Eventually I found a solid Dracula cabinet and the project was on. I knew there were differences between the two cabinets, most noticeable being the speaker placement, but I was in for a lot more than I bargained. Click here to see the entire project start to finish. There's tons of pictures and info so be prepared if you're on a dial-up connection.
What you see below is the finished game, about 140 painful hours later. For now the game is wrapped up and securely stored until I have some additional room to set it up. The playfield will need to be shopped out at that time but the cabinet obviously won't need any additional attention.
